Something Rotten

On Thursday, December 5th, and Friday, December 6th, the 7th and 8th graders of Greenwich Academy and Brunswick School performed the junior version of Wayne and Karey Kirkpatrick’s Something Rotten. This hilarious musical, Something Rotten Jr., starred William Jensen and Bucky Veiner as the Bottom brothers. The outstanding cast did a wonderful job bringing the show to life, and the crew assisted them with the incredible set pieces. Señora Paternina said: “The acting was impressive, and the staging was immaculate, creating a superb experience for everyone. What truly stood out was discovering a number of boys whose incredible acting talent I had no idea existed. It was a delightful surprise and a testament to their hard work and dedication. Congratulations to all for such a memorable performance!” The director, Mr Stamey, summarized the experience of working with this cast: “ This show was a beast! This show had about 50 pages more than the normal middle school script and ran 20 to 30 minutes longer than the average middle school show. With such a complex angle of comedy, the cast had to work really hard to understand the subtle nuances needed to create an amazing performance. The cast worked for months, and all of their hard work definitely paid off come opening night! I was beyond thrilled with the execution that the tech crew provided with seamless transitions helping tell the story and the final product I could not be more proud of again. The show was a lot to ask of middle school students, and they absolutely delivered, hands-down, my new favorite show that I have directed.”
