MS Instrumental Concert

Skyler Ginsburg ’33, Brooks Bing ’33, Samuel Norquist ’32 | January 13, 2026

Hi, I’m Skyler Ginsburg and I’m going to be sharing my experience at Baker Theatre in the Upper School. We played three songs, Rockin’ Minor, Watermelon Man, and What I’d say. I was lucky enough to get two solos, one in Watermelon Man and one in What I’d say. 5th, 6th, 7th, and the 8th grade jazz players were there. 5th and 6th grade played together while 7th and 8th played together with both sounding great. I’m most proud of my two solos and how good we sounded in the end, especially the 5th grade. Dr. Holsberg said, “I love all the music we play, I wouldn’t pick it if I didn’t think we would enjoy it.” “We heard terrific performances of Rockin’ Minor by the 5th and 6th jazz, Jump Start by 6th grade, Fortress by 7th, and Fiero by 8th. It was a magical evening.” Myself, I think 5th grade sounded awesome, 6th grade amazing with the 5th grade, the 7th and 8th grade trumpet solo was beautiful, and overall a fun time to show off and improvise your skills!
