On October 30th, 2025, David Jaramillo, the founder of Verne and class of 2011, came to speak to the Brunswick Middle School. Verne is a company that utilizes “future-proof” modular units to generate power on-site. He provided insight on his path from Brunswick to Harvard then UC Berkeley and how his dream career shifted as he grew older. He outlined the energy crisis facing the United States and how companies are working to produce the necessary power in the next ten years. When reflecting on his middle school days, he noted that he remembered the discipline the most and how students need to play sports, teaching them fundamental life lessons. In addition, he said that it is important that people (and students) cultivate their passions when they find something they like.
