
Brunswick Chess Tournament ’25

On Saturday, March 29, Brunswick hosted and competed in the 2025 Connecticut Scholastic (K-12th) Team Championships. Students from 23 schools in Connecticut participated. Brunswick’s middle school students who competed in the tournament were Yves Richards ’32, James Earls ‘32, Jack Mitzner ‘32, Christen Fugarino ‘32, Leo Cartellieri ‘31, Dante Hummel ‘29, Becka Kvirikadze ‘29, Max Jayaweera ‘30, Evan Lanson,30, Bradey Sherman ‘29, Will Whidden ‘29, and Baz White ‘30. The team coaches were Mrs. Pribyl and Mr. Arkin.
Our middle school team successfully defended its state championship title, with the upper school ranking second and the lower school ranking third.
Several middle school students won their respective grade-level tournaments. Head Coach, Mrs Pribyl, said, “We are excited to present the following grade-level winners -Yves Richards (5th), Leo Cartellieri (6th), Henry Franke (7th), and Becka Kvirikadze (8th)- with their trophies…” during the April 14th morning meeting.
